According to www.allmusic.com , Evans wrote this song on an envelope and taught it to Roy Rogers and The Sons of the Pioneers forty minutes before the start of the radio show on which it aired for the first time. It was used as the closing theme song for the Roy Rogers television show from 1951-1957. The intro verse shown is as was recorded by Randy Travis in a duet with Roy Rogers.
